Words from Stour Space:
Thank you to those of you who joined us to see The Stour Trio for the first time – reaction has been fantastic. For our second session, we’ve invited two very talented acts to play alongside for Stour Live. Expect a whole range of styles and musical offerings as we open up the bar so you can enjoy drinks out on the pontoon and in the main gallery space.
FREE BEFORE 8PM
Three amazingly talented jazz trained musicians Jonathan Idiagbonya (Keys), Rick Leon James (Bass) & Andrew Mclean (Drums) make up the Stour Trio as they return for their residency at the space. They’ve played with everyone from Amy Winehouse to Grace Jones to Mark Ronson to Corinne Bailey Rae to The Ennio Morricone Orchestra. Expect a journey through all styles from jazz, soul, blues, afrobeat, latin, funk and more…
The London-based artist Hawkon from Bergen got attention on international blogs with his early demos on Soundcloud. Last fall the EP Dare to Follow was released. He has been compared to everything from early Phoenix to Kindness.
“All billowing synths and hypnotic, languid beats, it’s the songwriting, the lyrics which leave a lasting impression.” – Clash Mag
FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS
Echoing sentiments of legendary Psych Bands of old First World Problems (aka Nicole Fermie and Howie Gill) combine powerful guitar music and clever songwriting. Parliament Funkadelic, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix are cited as key influences, female front-lady Nicole’s voice is definitely unique – one’s to watch!
